Mariana is a Guatemalan-Colombian soprano, currently based in Toronto, Canada. She is pursuing an Artist Diploma at The Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory.
In the summer of 2026, she will attend Music Academy of the West as Lehrer Voice Fellow, where she will perform in scenes from La Traviata and Don Pasquale and cover the role of Witness 1/Aveline Mortimer in Kevin Puts’s Elizabeth Cree.
Mariana has appeared as a guest soloist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, at the Symphony’s Summer Nights performance of Le nozze di Figaro.
During her time at the Eastman, Mariana covered the role of Margarita Xirgu in Eastman Opera Theatre’s production of Osvaldo Golijov's Ainadamar, performed the role of Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, as well as the role of Mimi in a concert version of excerpts from La bohème with Eastman Symphony Orchestra. She also performed two world premieres with Eastman's Musica Nova ensemble.
Mariana was also selected to perform in a masterclass with soprano and conductor Barbara Hannigan.
At UBC Opera, she performed the roles of Barbarina in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, Elena in Nino Rota’s The Florentine Straw Hat, the Vixen in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen, the title role in Massenet’s Cendrillon, and Despina in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte.
Mariana also attended Canadian Opera Company's 2024 Summer Intensive Program as a Voice Fellow.
During the 2024–2025 season, she became the Buffalo-Toronto District Winner of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and Great Lakes Region, in Detroit, Michigan. She earned an Encouragement Award during the 2025-2026 season also at the Buffalo-Toronto District.
Mariana holds a B.M from the University of British Columbia, and an M.M and Arts Leadership Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Nicole Cabell .
